Unplugged Cont'd.

As part of my efforts to unplug from technology, I've been reading a lot of books. I've become best friends with my library again. I missed the Whale of a Sale last weekend so now I'm going back to the old days when my mom would take my brother, sister and I to the library where we would spend hours picking out just the right book. My hold list is getting longer and longer but somehow the library Gods know when I'm in need of a new book. Do you have any new books that are must reads? I wish my patio looked like this - I could spend all summer reading if I had this set up.

I thought this article in the NY Times is interesting, the couple profiled seems extreme, but I think it has some truth to the over-stimulated argument.

Enjoy some light reading - next time make I'll make it the actual newspaper!

The Strong Life Test for Women

After reading an article that referenced Mark Buckingham's Find Your Strongest Life - What the Happiest and Most Successful Women Do Differently I was very, very critical of the big headline. I'm sure you've all seen it, as women grow older they become less happy. My cynical self had to read this book. I was actually quite surprised with its content, while I don't agree with everything in here he does have some good information.

I've been doing a lot of soul searching lately coming into my 10th year in the consulting world so this book has been pretty helpful. I am fairly surprised by how accurate the StrongLifeTest is at describing my strengths. This book and the role analysis has been fairly good at reinforcing what my gut is telling me. Hopefully (fingers crossed) there are some life changes coming but nothing that is considered earth shattering on my end. If all goes as planned (I'm a huge planner) I can get all of the details ironed out in the next month to be able to share more soon!
